Discover how we’ve brought clarity from complexity to Connected Places Catapult

We have worked with the team at Connected Places Catapult over the last couple of years, providing creative digital illustrations and infographics for aviation, rail, maritime and roads, web UX and UI design, build and development, animation and video production. Our work has included:

Digital illustrations

We were briefed to create content to communicate complex and difficult to explain information on new transport, infrastructure and decarbonisation plans, in an easy to understand, attractive way. Aimed at businesses and public sector organisations in the infrastructure sector, we created informative 3D infographics, that could be used in presentations, online and at events. The graphics were in-keeping with the Connected Places Catapult brand guidelines, using CPC colours, fonts and icons. We have since created several of these infographics, including animated interactive versions for a number of different projects that Connected Places Catapult have supported.

Manual for Smart Streets

A digital interactive manual providing help to Local Authorities in identifying and using new innovation and technologies to deal with traffic and transport management challenges. Our brief was to create a vision map of a fictional city to communicate the complex, detailed and multi-layered information in an interactive and interesting way.

We developed a 3D digital illustration style that was in-keeping with brand guidelines. This style was used to create a cityscape visual map that detailed all the new traffic/transport technologies that could be used in an urban environment. Twelve individual illustrations were then created for the focus areas.

An interactive version of the vision map was then created, with rollovers on the focus areas displaying the individual illustrations and text detail plus links to further information. The interactive version was integrated into a Manual for Smart Streets website we created, developed and hosted.

A two minute animation was also created, with voiceover to explain each element of the vision map in more detail. This project was a collaboration between public and private sector organisations for Connected Places Catapult, Transport Technology Forum, commissioned and supported by the Department for Transport. As such, there were many stakeholders to communicate with at various stages throughout the project, needing robust project management processes and tools and an efficient communication plan to enable key milestones to be met.

We approached Thynne to help us develop an isometric infographic for a project we we’re working on. The team delivered outstanding work in a timely and professional manner. They implemented multiple rounds of our detailed feedback and did so until the product was perfect. I would recommend Thynne unreservedly to anyone looking for help with graphics, branding and 3D visualisations.

How we bring clarity to Transport & Energy

Transport + Energy was set up to bring two sectors, which historically had no link, together to ensure that the UK’s transition to electric vehicles and decarbonised transport is successful. Our work with them supports the regular innovation events they hold for local councils, government departments and private sector businesses in the transport and energy industries.

Creation of signage, banners, design and production of brochures, programmes and development of supporting digital assets are amongst the projects we have completed recently to help make the events a success.
